Merry Christmas! Kurnothi Wild Riders

Having wanted to paint something for the Holiday, I was thinking about Santa's elves and reindeers. Finally I've made something in-between: reindeer-elves centaurs ;) Can be used as Wild Riders (of which they've been made) or alternative Skaeth of Warhammer Underworlds. Merry Christmas!

Nie ogarnąłem w tym roku ŚWF, ale pomalować coś na Boże Narodzenie i tak chciałem. Myśli wybiegały mi ku reniferom i elfom Świętego Mikołaja i ostatecznie stanęło na czymś w pół drogi - reniferowo-elfich centaurach ;) Da się tego użyć jako Wild Riders (z nich powstały) albo alternatywnego Skaetha do Warhammer Underworlds. Wesołych Świąt!

I've painted to fit Orion and the Wild Hunt. It's fun and maybe someday will become something bigger.

Here comes the second of the Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven warriors! I am looking forward to painting naga-archer and the masked acrobat, but something about the sculpt of the boss' face seems off. We'll see if it's gonne come together after all.

Jest i druga duszyczka z Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven! Cieszę się na malowanie wężowatej łuczniczki i zamaskowanej akrobatki, ale coś mi nie pasuje w rzeźbie twarzy szefowej. Zobaczymy, czy uda się jakoś to wyprowadzić na prostą.

FKB LXXV: Sepulchral Guard

Souls of the Deathrattle of Shadespire remain trapped within their decayed forms. Long after their flesh has rotten away they retain a fragmented memory of their past lives. The former Lord Marshal of Shadespire and his guard have sworn themselves to the God of Death’s service, praying that by petitioning Nagash for forgiveness they may be freed from the agony of their existence.

Getting back to the Sepulchral Guard I had two phrases in mind: "Dawn of the Dead" and "It's always darkest before the dawn". In the result I've painted the undead rather dark ;)  In order to be able to take a good photo I made a little platform for the Warden and the shortest of the Petitioners.

W kontekście koyothowego tematu Figurowego Karnawału Blogowego do głowy przyszły mi klasyczne frazy, jak: „Świt żywych trupów” czy „It's always darkest before the dawn”. A skoro przed świtem ma być najciemniej, z jasnymi farbkami na moim Sepulchral Guard za bardzo nie szalałem. Żeby godnie wyeksponować szefa i pomóc pokazać się najniższemu w bandzie koledze, dorobiłem małe podwyższenie.

Sepulchral Guard's the Warden

It's been 15 months since I've painted the Petitioners and TBH I don't know why it took me so long to paint all the minis of Sepulchral Guard. They're very fun and easy to paint, most of them superbly designed and quite atmospheric. Anyway, I'm glad I've painted them. On Saturday there's gonna be a group photo with a little bonus.

Właściwie nie wiem dlaczego od moich pierwszych sepulchral guardowych figurek, Petitionerów, do ostatniej - Sepulchral Wardena - zeszło aż tak długo. Ludki to bardzo przyjemne w malowaniu, z drobnymi, względnie łatwymi do skorygowania wyjątkami świetnie zaprojektowane, nieprzesadzone i klimatyczne. Cieszę się, że ich pomalowałem. W sobotę zdjęcie zbiorcze i karnawałowy wpis ze szkielkami w roli głównej.

Sepulchral Guard's the Harvester

In comparison to other members of Sepulchral Guard the Harvester was converted the most. In the original pose he looked like he tried to chop and not to scythe. Eventually I managed to set it in a satisfactory way, watching a lot of scythe fighting techniques videos in the process ;)

Z punktu widzenia konwersji z Harvesterem miałem najwięcej zabawy z całej ekipy. W oryginalnej pozie wyglądał, jakby nie kosił, a rąbał. W końcu udało się ustawić to w miarę satysfakcjonujący sposób, ale co się po drodze naoglądałem filmików o technikach walki kosą, to moje ;)

Next week the boss and a group photo with a little piece of scenery helping the exposition are going to be  be published. Then I won't have an other way but to start with Daughters of Khaine.

W przyszłym tygodniu szef i zdjęcie grupowe z ekspozycyjną przeszkadzajką, a potem chyba wreszcie Daughters of Khaine.

Sepulchral Guard's the Champion

The work on Sepulchral Guard progresses. I've painted the Champion and converted the Harvester. Just two more minis to paint and it's done!

Postępują prace nad ekipą Sepulchral Guard. Pomalowałem championa i skonwertowałem kosiarza. Maźnę jeszcze dwa ludki i będzie po sprawie!

Sepulchral Guard's the Prince of Dust

There were many reasons to get back to painting Sepulchral Guard. Arena Mortis gave them some fun cards to play with, the 4th season is still more than a month away and I can't get myself to convert Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven. I had got to remind myself  how I painted the Petitioners and I decided to do it in the process of painting the slightly converted Prince of Dust. Moreover it came out that now I take photos totally differently than a year ago. I tried too keep them that dark, but managing to keep the colors real.

Trochę z myślą o kolejnym karnawale, trochę w związku z odświeżeniem mechaniki ich wskrzeszania w Arena Mortis, trochę w związku z oczekiwaniem na 4. sezon, ale przede wszystkim z braku weny na konwertowanie Morgwaeth's Blade-Coven - wracam do Sepulchral Guard. Po przerwie, jaką miałem od Petitionerów, musiałem sobie odświeżyć to ich oszczędne malowanie. Na "drugi ogień" pod pędzel poszedł lekko skonwertowany the Prince of Dust. Okazało się też, że w międzyczasie zupełnie inaczej zacząłem robić zdjęcia :D Chciałem utrzymać tamten mrok, ale z wierniejszym oddaniem barw. 

I am going to paint the Champion and the Sepulchral Warden soon and I'm thinking about converting the Harvester.

Na malowanie w najbliższym czasie czekają czempion i szef; myślę jeszcze o konwertowaniu kosiarza.

Happy Halloween! Pumpkin Sorcerer

Having wondered what to paint for this years' Halloween I reminded myself about Umbra Turris Pumpkin Sorcerer I bought at a convention once upon a time. Here he is. Happy Halloween!

Sprawiłem sobie kiedyś na jakimś konwencie dwie figurki z Umbra Turris. Kiedy zastanawiałem się, co pomalować przy okazji tegorocznego Halloween, przypomniało mi się o dyniowym czarnoksiężniku. No to pomalowałem. Udanych Dziadów!

FKB LXXIV: The Farstriders

The process of Reforging, by which the soul-stuff of fallen warriors is borne to Azyrheim and transmuted back into flesh and metal, renders each Stormcast immortal, but comes with a heavy toll. With each death, a Sigmar's soldier loses a part of humanity, becoming cold and distant, and losing grip upon the fragmented memories of the past life. Grizzled hunters led by Sanson Farstrider were part of a detachment sent to Shadespire to investigate potential cures for this ailment. Now they find themselves trapped, separated from their kin and from each other, with only the whispers of the dead to guide them home.

Looking for a painting scheme for my Farstriders, I stumbled upon Dark Souls III Boreal Valley Concept Art. I liked it a lot and decided to go with cloudy-night palette with a few "moonlight" accents  - with Sanson's Star Falcon being the focal point of the warband.

Moją pierwszą warhammerową myślą na hasło "nie wszystko złoto, co się świeci" (zaproponowanym przez Viluir tematem LXXIV Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego) są złoci chłopcy Sigmara - Stormcast Eternals. Skojarzenie wydaje mi się trafne:

• fluffowo - świetny na pozór pomysł reforgingu okazał się w długofalowym ujęciu wadliwy i brzemienny w negatywne skutki,
• kolorystycznie - domyślne, "złote" malowanie pancerzy Stormcastów jest według mnie odstręczające.

Inspirując się Dark Soulsowym obrazkiem, na którym jasno widać, że świecić może z powodzeniem także księżyc, pomalowałem drużynę Farstriderów na nocno i półmatowo, z wyraźnie jaśniejszym punktem - "gwiezdnym sokołem" Sansona Farstridera.

Having finished Swifblade and Eagle-Eye I've painted the Fartsriders' leader, Sanson Farstrider (and his Star Falcon). A group photo to be published on Saturday.

The Farstriders' Elias Swiftblade

It seems I am going to manage to paint all Underworlds season 3 warbands before release of the 4th one, so I felt free to catch up with some older stuff. And because I've wanted to make hooded Farstriders since I saw them at Maniexite, I took the opportunity to do so. I've got one so far: Elias Swiftblade.

Są duże szanse na to, że przed czwartym sezonem Underworlds zdążę pomalować wszystkie bandy z trzeciego, postanowiłem więc nadrobić część zaległości z poprzednich edycji. A że chciałem zrobić Farstriderów w kapturkach, odkąd zobaczyłem ich na Maniexite, to korzystając z okazji takich właśnie sobie zrobię. Na razie mam jednego: Eliasa Swiftblade'a :)
