Thricefold Discord vs Zondara's Gravebreakers

Encouraged by a friend, I made a Warhammer Underworlds Battle Report. It turned out to be one hell of a challenge. There's a lot going on in Underworlds. Each of the twelve activations is followed by alternate spellcasting. Meanwhile dice are rolled, tokens are dealt, reactions are triggered and objectives are scored. A full-length description would, in my opinion, be time-consuming to prepare, as well as boring to read :P So I'll limit myself to the key twists and turns.

Maniex zaordynował, by tematem CXXV Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego był Battle Report. Choć gram w grę regularnie, rzecz okazała się cholernie trudna - szczególnie na etapie selekcji materiału. W Underworldsach dzieje się bowiem dużo. Po każdej z dwunastu aktywacji następuje naprzemienne rzucanie czarów, w międzyczasie turlane są kostki, rozdawane tokeny, odpalane reakcje i zaliczane cele. Pełnometrażowy opis byłby więc w mojej ocenie czasochłonny w przygotowaniu, jak i i nudny w lekturze :P Ograniczę się więc do kluczowych zwrotów akcji.

The skirmish involved a trio of Slaanesh demons led by me (The Thricefold Discord) and a pair of tragic lovers - a werewolf and a necromancer - accompanied by 3 zombies (Zondara's Gravebreakers) led by my underworlds friend Viktor. We played at Board Mage, the venue for weekly meetings of the Wroclaw WHU community.

W potyczce udział wziął tercet demonów Slaanesha pod moją wodzą oraz beznadziejnie zakochani wilkołak i nekromantka w towarzystwie 3 zombie (Zondara's Gravebreakers) mojego underworldsowego kolegi, Viktora. Graliśmy w Magu Planszowym, miejscu cotygodniowych spotkań wrocławskiej społeczności WHU.

Anyone who has had contact with necromancers knows that if you don't get rid of them the first thing, they resurrect zombies like crazy. To avoid this, I put everything on one card. In my first two activations, I charged deep into the opponent's field with the help of spells: first with a serpentine assassin, then with a slippery sorceress. The dice were favorable. Even though Viktor healed the necromancer by one point and drew the werewolf to her, I managed to kill her. The opponent didn't care much about it. He systematically hurt my fighters - with a dog or with some spells. He dug up some graves with zombies, pursuing his goals. After killing his leader, I did not land any more attacks. The first round ended with a score of 5:3 for Viktor. In the next round, I focused on exterminating the zombies, while Viktor continued to dig and bite my fighters with his werewolf and spells.

Kto miał styczność z nekromantami, wie, że jak się ich nie zaciuka w pierwszej kolejności, wskrzeszają zombie jak szaleni. By tego uniknąć, postawiłem wszystko na jedną kartę. W pierwszych dwóch aktywacjach zaszarżowałem z pomocą czarów głęboko w pole przeciwnika: najpierw wężowym asasynem, potem  oślizgłą czarodziejką. Kostki sprzyjały. Mimo, że Viktor uleczył nekromantkę o jeden punkt i przyciągnął do niej wilkołaka, udało mi się ją zabić. Przeciwnik niewiele sobie z tego robił. Nadgryzał moich zawodników - to psem, to czarami i rozkopywał groby z użyciem zombiaków, realizując swoje cele. Ja po zabiciu przywódczyni nie trafiłem już żadnego ataku. Pierwsza runda skończyła się wynikiem 5:3 dla Viktora. W kolejnej rundzie systematycznie tępiłem zombie, a Viktor kontynuował wykopki i podgryzanie moich zawodników wilkołakiem i czarami.

At the beginning two zombies fell, then - my assassin and later on a zombie and my boss. Only Viktor's dog and my sorceress were left on the battlefield. In the last round we "played chess" with each other, trying to realize our goals and not let the opponent score his own. However, Viktor planned the marathon better than me, had a big enough advantage and eventually won 18:16.

W pierwszej kolejności poległy dwa zombie, następnie - mój asasyn, potem zombie i mój szef. Na placu boju - jak się okaże, aż do końca gry - został psiak Viktora i moja czarodziejka. W ostatniej rundzie szachowaliśmy się nawzajem, starając się realizować swoje cele i nie dać przeciwnikowi zaliczyć własnych. Jednak Viktor mądrzej ode mnie rozplanował maraton, miał na tym etapie wystarczająco dużą przewagę i ostatecznie wygrał 18:16.

Witch Hunters - Warrior Priest

A Warrior Priest for a Mordheim Witch Hunter warband based on Warhammer Underworlds Brethren of the Bolt's Friar Galvic. I substituted his original lightning rod with a "halo" taken from the WarCry Unmade box and made a few minor conversions.

Oparty na modelu Friar Galvic z underworldoswego Brethren of the Bolt kapłan Sigmara do ekipy łowców czarownic. Piorunochron zastąpiłem aureolką urżniętą z WarCry'owych the Unmade, parę rzeczy wyciąłem, a parę dodałem.

Reikland Captain with 2-handed sword

Here's a guy from out of my comfort zone, painted for a fellow blogger for a Christmas Mini Exchange :) (Hence the tree on the second picture.) It seems it's a first Empire mini on my blog ever. The renaissance outfit gave me a hard time - possibly because I am not used to painting stuff in bright colors (when it's not blood, guts or OSL). Nevertheless it was fun. Enjoy!

W ramach organizowanej przez Elmina Świątecznej Wymiany Figurkowej przyszło mi obdarować autora bloga Boston Steel Works. Przekopując jego archiwa w poszukiwaniu czegoś z obszaru moich zainteresowań, dogrzebałem się postu dotyczącego Mordheim i Imperium. Kolega skarżył się w nim, że źli ludzie pozbawili go niegdyś figurki reiklandzkiego kapitana z dwurękolem. Niestety akurat tym modelem nie dysponowałem, ale skonwertowałem z pobliskich bitsów coś możliwie podobnego i wsadziłem opcjonalnie na podstawkę z choinką i śnieżkiem. Kolorowe fatałaszki - możliwie dopasowane do schematu kolorystycznego bostońskiej bandy -  były interesującym wyjściem z mojej strefy malarskiego komfortu.

The Cult of the Possessed - Accursed Cultists Possessed

Kitbashing Cult of the Possessed models was fun, so I decided to stay in that state of mind for a little longer and paint another possessed model - this time straight from the box, without any modifications. It's a model from WH40k Accursed Cultists.

Dobrze mi było z tymi paskudnymi stworami do kultu opętanych, więc poszedłem za ciosem i pomalowałem kolejnego. Tym razem bez cudowania i konwersji, prościutko z pudełka Accursed Cultists do WH40k.

The Cult of the Possessed - Possessed Kitbash

In the painting frenzy I went through in November '24 in connection with the Mordheim 25th anniversary painting contest, I've eventually managed to complete entries in all five categories. As a large model, I submitted the following figure - a kitbash of the possessed for Cult of the Possessed warband. I used the following parts:

• torso, legs and left arm from the Gellerpox Infected box, enhanced with additional heads coming out of the body from another model from the same box,
• the right arm of the AoS stone troll (Rockgut Troggoths box),
• head from the Gobbapalooza set.

The thing is loosely inspired by the original model (the less popular one I think): the one with a big hand, a pincer and faces coming out of non-obvious places (it's described as "Possessed 1" on Stuff of Legends). I am still not sure if I should keep the head, but for now I am going to leave it as it is.

W listopadowym szale malowania na potrzeby jubileuszowego konkursu na 25-lecie Mordheim udało mi się ostatecznie zrealizować prace we wszystkich pięciu kategoriach. Jako duży model zgłosiłem poniższą figurkę - kitbash opętańca do Cult of the Possessed. Użyłem następujących części:

• tułowia, nóg i lewej ręki z pudła Gellerpox Infected, wzbogaconych wychodzącymi z ciała dodatkowymi głowami z innego modelu z tego samego pudła,
• prawej ręki AoS-owego kamiennego trolla (rockgut troggotha),
• głowy z zestawu Gobbapalooza.

Rzecz jest luźno inspirowana oryginalnym modelem - tym mniej popularnym: z wielką łapą, szczypcem i twarzami wychodzącymi z nieoczywistych miejsc. Nie jestem pewien, czy ta „główna” głowa działa jak należy, ale na razie zostanie, gdzie jest.

Black Skaven #2
