In connection to saying bye-bye to old Stormcast Eternals, the time deficit I've had lately, and a  will to unify the quality of pictures of WHU warbands throughout the blog - the today's post consists of the new photos of the old Stormcast Eternals teams for Warhammer Underworlds. Potent battle-mages dealing with threats of mystical nature, members of Domitan's Stormcoven were brought to Wyrdhollow to halt the apocalypse of change brewing within its root-halls. Surrounded with the crackling corona of electricity and able to unlock dizzying heights of magical potential, they will bring holy destruction to anyone who opposes plans of their divine liege.

Za sprawą Kapitana Haka tematem majowego Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego było CV. Pomalowałem po prostu z tej okazji ostatniego ludzika z ekipy Stormcastów z kilku powodów:

• Po pierwsze, mają życie przed i po reforgingiem, musieliby chyba mieć dwa CV.
• Po drugie, zapominają podobno z każdym reforgingiem coraz więcej z pierwszego życia, dobrze więc byłoby mieć wszystko spisane.
• Wreszcie, w CV podobno dobrze jest mieć zdjęcia, co wydało mi się szczególnie zabawne w związku z tym, że akurat ten typ ma maskę ;)

Xandire's Truthseekers

Xandire’s Truthseekers are a band of Stormcasts-errant on a mission from the God-King himself. When fleets sailing out of the Ulguan port-city of Misthåvn began to disappear with alarming regularity, Sigmar knew he could not remain idle. Rather than send his armies on a wild search through the dark, however, he opted for a more subtle approach – warbands of Thunderstrike-armoured champions who could scour Ulgu for the elusive truth.

I've started painting WHU Xandire's Truthseekers Stormcast Eternals warband - a bird named Taros as the first mini.

Dziadu z lasu zainspirował tematem bieżącego Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego, żeby malować w tym miesiącu samych "dobrych". Na dobry początek - ptaszek do najnowszych Stormcastów do WHU.

FKB LXXIV: The Farstriders

The process of Reforging, by which the soul-stuff of fallen warriors is borne to Azyrheim and transmuted back into flesh and metal, renders each Stormcast immortal, but comes with a heavy toll. With each death, a Sigmar's soldier loses a part of humanity, becoming cold and distant, and losing grip upon the fragmented memories of the past life. Grizzled hunters led by Sanson Farstrider were part of a detachment sent to Shadespire to investigate potential cures for this ailment. Now they find themselves trapped, separated from their kin and from each other, with only the whispers of the dead to guide them home.

Looking for a painting scheme for my Farstriders, I stumbled upon Dark Souls III Boreal Valley Concept Art. I liked it a lot and decided to go with cloudy-night palette with a few "moonlight" accents  - with Sanson's Star Falcon being the focal point of the warband.

Moją pierwszą warhammerową myślą na hasło "nie wszystko złoto, co się świeci" (zaproponowanym przez Viluir tematem LXXIV Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego) są złoci chłopcy Sigmara - Stormcast Eternals. Skojarzenie wydaje mi się trafne:

• fluffowo - świetny na pozór pomysł reforgingu okazał się w długofalowym ujęciu wadliwy i brzemienny w negatywne skutki,
• kolorystycznie - domyślne, "złote" malowanie pancerzy Stormcastów jest według mnie odstręczające.

Inspirując się Dark Soulsowym obrazkiem, na którym jasno widać, że świecić może z powodzeniem także księżyc, pomalowałem drużynę Farstriderów na nocno i półmatowo, z wyraźnie jaśniejszym punktem - "gwiezdnym sokołem" Sansona Farstridera.

Almeric Eagle-Eye / Sanson Farstrider / Elias Swiftblade

Having finished Swifblade and Eagle-Eye I've painted the Fartsriders' leader, Sanson Farstrider (and his Star Falcon). A group photo to be published on Saturday.

It seems I am going to manage to paint all Underworlds season 3 warbands before release of the 4th one, so I felt free to catch up with some older stuff. And because I've wanted to make hooded Farstriders since I saw them at Maniexite, I took the opportunity to do so. I've got one so far: Elias Swiftblade.

Są duże szanse na to, że przed czwartym sezonem Underworlds zdążę pomalować wszystkie bandy z trzeciego, postanowiłem więc nadrobić część zaległości z poprzednich edycji. A że chciałem zrobić Farstriderów w kapturkach, odkąd zobaczyłem ich na Maniexite, to korzystając z okazji takich właśnie sobie zrobię. Na razie mam jednego: Eliasa Swiftblade'a :)

Stormsire's Cursebreakers

"Storm" was a key-word I had in mind while painting my Cursebreakers. Picking a color for their clothes I wanted it to bring storm clouds to mind. Spirit flasks and weapons were to look like they contain a lightning ready to struck. 'Cause I do not like typical Stormcast gold I tried to add dark-blueish tints to their armors as well.

They were given a rather quick paint job for my standards, but all in all I am satisfied with OSL effects, transitions of colors on robes and the warband in general. Below you'll find a group photo and some close-ups.

"Burza" to słowo-klucz, które towarzyszyło mi podczas malowania Zaklinaczy. Wybierając kolor szat, chciałem, żeby przywodziły na myśl burzowe chmury. Fiolki Dusz i bronie miały wyglądać jakby zawierały pioruny gotowe, by uderzyć. Jako że nie przepadam za typowym stormcastowym złotem, starałem się zagranatowić także pancerze.

Jak na moje standardy uporałem się z malowainem dość szybko, ale jestem zadowolony z efektów OSL, przejść kolorów na płaszczach i z bandy ogółem. Powyżej zdjęcie grupowe, a poniżej parę zbliżeń.

Here's the last mini for my Stormsire's Cursebreakers: Ammis Dawnguard. Instead of the original model I used a Knight Incantor - I just found Ammis and Rastus to similar to easily tell one from another. In order to make her look less "bossy" and to give no doubts about Averon's superior position in the warband, I downgraded her staff a little bit.

Oto ostatnia figurka do ekipy Zaklinaczy Stormsire'a: Ammis Strzegąca Świtu. W miejsce oryginalnego modelu użyłem Knight Incantora - Ammis i Rastus wydawali mi się zbyt podobni, by łatwo ich odróżniać. Żeby wyglądała trochę mniej "szefowo" i by nie było wątpliwości co do wyższej pozycji Averona, dałem jej trochę mniej spektakularny kostur.
