The Cult of the Possessed - Possessed Kitbash

In the painting frenzy I went through in November '24 in connection with the Mordheim 25th anniversary painting contest, I've eventually managed to complete entries in all five categories. As a large model, I submitted the following figure - a kitbash of the possessed for Cult of the Possessed warband. I used the following parts:

• torso, legs and left arm from the Gellerpox Infected box, enhanced with additional heads coming out of the body from another model from the same box,
• the right arm of the AoS stone troll (Rockgut Troggoths box),
• head from the Gobbapalooza set.

The thing is loosely inspired by the original model (the less popular one I think): the one with a big hand, a pincer and faces coming out of non-obvious places (it's described as "Possessed 1" on Stuff of Legends). I am still not sure if I should keep the head, but for now I am going to leave it as it is.

W listopadowym szale malowania na potrzeby jubileuszowego konkursu na 25-lecie Mordheim udało mi się ostatecznie zrealizować prace we wszystkich pięciu kategoriach. Jako duży model zgłosiłem poniższą figurkę - kitbash opętańca do Cult of the Possessed. Użyłem następujących części:

• tułowia, nóg i lewej ręki z pudła Gellerpox Infected, wzbogaconych wychodzącymi z ciała dodatkowymi głowami z innego modelu z tego samego pudła,
• prawej ręki AoS-owego kamiennego trolla (rockgut troggotha),
• głowy z zestawu Gobbapalooza.

Rzecz jest luźno inspirowana oryginalnym modelem - tym mniej popularnym: z wielką łapą, szczypcem i twarzami wychodzącymi z nieoczywistych miejsc. Nie jestem pewien, czy ta „główna” głowa działa jak należy, ale na razie zostanie, gdzie jest.

Witch Hunters - Zealots Kitbash

When a man loses his family, home and all he cared for, religion is often the last refuge left to him. Such men become wandering pilgrims, bitter and dangerous fanatics who are prepared to avenge their loss at any cost. These men are called Zealots.

Zealots have forsaken their former lives and exist only to destroy evil and the minions of Chaos. Whilst they might have been peasants and craftsmen before, and thus may not be as dangerous in a fight as seasoned mercenaries, their determination and fanaticism should not be underestimated. Witch Hunters - Zealot w/ Fish Kitbash

Here's the last of my #OldschoolNouveau Zealots for Mordheim Witch Hunters warband. It's a tribute to the model known as "Witch Hunter Zealot 1". I based it on Acolyte Arcus from Warhammer Underworlds Brethren of the Bolt warband available as a part of Wintermaw set. The list of the parts used is as follows:

• Warhammer Underworlds: Brethren of the Bolt - legs, torso, arms (left one is repositioned and both hands are swapped tough). I cut away all chains and contraptions.
• Warhammer Underworlds: Brethren of the Bolt - leftover Scorched Yakob's left hand
• Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Cities of Sigmar - Freeguild Steelhelms - head
• Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Nighthaunt - Chainrasp Hordes
• Kill Team: Gellerpox Infected - fish
• Scratch-built book made of cardboard, paper, green stuff and a piece of a thin rope.

Trzeci i ostatni fanatyk z drużyny łowców czarownic odwołujący się do oryginalnych mordheimowych wzorów. Bazą do konwersji był Acolyte Arcus z Brethren of the Bolt - bandy do Warhammer Underworlds z zestawu Wintermaw. Uciąłem co niepotrzebne, podmieniłem głowę i dłonie, repozycjonowałem lewą rękę, dodałem książkę i rybę. Użyłem:

• główki z AoS-owych Freeguild Steelhelms,
• lewej dłoni Scorched Yacoba z Brethren of the Bolt (zwolniła się, jak zastąpiła ją pacynka)
• prawej dłoni z pałką z zestawu Chainrasp Hordes z Age of Sigmar,
• ryby z Kill Teamowego Gellerpox Infected
• innych materiałów: kartonu, papieru, cienkiego sznurka i green stuffu.

Witch Hunters - Zealot w/ Shield Kitbash

Here's the next of my #OldschoolNouveau minis for Mordheim Witch Hunters. It's a tribute to the model known as "Witch Hunter Zealot 3". It's based on Soror Tazat from Warhammer Underworlds Brethren of the Bolt warband available as a part of Wintermaw set. The list of the parts used is as follows:

• Warhammer Underworlds: Brethren of the Bolt - legs, torso, arms and left hand. I cut away all the stuff I didn't want (mainly chains and contraptions) and scratch-built the shield, using some coffee stir sticks and two thin stripes of paper for the handle.
• Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Cities of Sigmar - Freeguild Steelhelms - head
• Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soulblight Gravelords - Deadwalker Zombies - right hand and sword
• Other materials: paper and green stuff

Ot, następna figurka z cyklu „budujemy stare figurki z nowych kawałków” (#OldschoolNouveau) - fanatyk z tarczą do drużyny łowców czarownic. Bazą do konwersji była Soror Tazat z underworldsowej ekipy Brethren of the Bolt będacej częścią zestawu Wintermaw. Uciąłem jej niepotrzebne kawałki i dorobiłem tarczę, podmieniłem głowę i prawą dłoń. W miejsce scrolla na piersi wstawiłem papiery. Użyłem:

• główki z AoS-owych Freeguild Steelhelms,
• miecza z zestawu Deadwalkers Zombies do AoSa,
• innych materiałów: greenstuffu, kilku kawałków drewnianego mieszadełka, papieru.

Here's the next of my #OldschoolNouveau minis for Mordheim Witch Hunters. It's a tribute to the model known as "Witch Hunter Zealot 2". I based it on Scorched Yakob from Warhammer Underworlds Brethren of the Bolt warband available as a part of Wintermaw set. The list of the parts used is as follows:

• Warhammer Underworlds: Brethren of the Bolt - legs, torso, head, hands (left one is repositioned and cut though). I cut away all the stuff I didn't want (chains, head and hands contraptions) and scratch-built the puppet, using the little skull from the top of the head contraption (adding green stuff for body and hands, a little piece of wood and a bit from a thin plasticard sheet for the puppet's axe).
• Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Chainrasp Hordes - axe
• Warhammer Fantasy Battles: Empire Flagellants - noose
• Other materials: green stuff, a piece of wood, a thin rope

To mój następny ludzik w ramach cyklu „budujemy stare figurki z nowych kawałków” (#OldschoolNouveau) - fanatyk z kukiełką do drużyny łowców czarownic. Bazą do konwersji był Scorched Yakob z underworldsowej ekipy Brethren of the Bolt stanowiącej część zestawu Wintermaw. Uciąłem mu niepotrzebne kawałki i repozycjonowałem lewą rękę - tak, żeby skutecznie wsadzić w nią scratch-buildową pacynkę. Poza tym użyłem:

• topora z zestawu Chainrasp Hordes do AoSa
• stryczka ze starych imperialnych Flagellantów
• innych materiałów: greenstuffu, kawałka drewnianego mieszadełka, sznurka

Witch Hunters - Zealots WIP

Some cool painting competitions are going on now. Grimdark Compendium's Grimdark Challenge is back (the theme is Forest Freaks) and the Mordheim Facebook group holds a competition for the 25th anniversary of the game. (There are five categories: individual model, warband, large creature, grimdark, conversion.) I would like to participate in all of it, but it seems I won't have enough time :D Anyway, I want to use my competitive motivation to get some things done. One of the topics I've had in the back of my mind but haven't had a chance to do so far is a contemporary rework of classic Zealots for Mordheim Witch Hunters (#OldschoolNouveau). Check out Zealot #1, #2 & #3 on The Stuff of Legends Mordheim Witch Hunters page if you don't remember how the original models looked :) I haven't had time to paint it yet, but the conversions are done!

Obrodziło konkursami malarskimi o bliskiej mojemu sercu tematyce. Wróciło organizowane przez Grimdark Compendium Grimdark Challenge (temat to Forest Freaks), a na facebookowej grupie Mordheim trwa konkurs na 25-lecie gry z pięcioma kategoriami (pojedyncza model, banda, duży stwór, grimdark, konwersja). Nie wiem w efekcie, w co włożyć ręce :D Na pewno chcę skorzystać z konkursowej motywacji, żeby wypchnąć jak najwięcej rzeczy, które miałem z tyłu głowy, ale nie było okazji się za nie wziąć. Jednym z takich tematów jest współczesny rework klasycznych zealotów do mordheimowych Witch Hunterów. Pomalować jeszcze nie zdążyłem, ale skonwertowane już jest!

The Cult of the Possessed - Brethren #2 Kitbash

I assembled another #OldschoolNouveau Brethren loosely based on the classic Mordheim designs.

This time I had in mind the model described on Stuff of Legends as "Brethren w/ Mace and Axe 2". I used the following parts:

• As in case of Brethren #1, the base is the model from the Cawdor Necromunda gang. I took the legs, torso, arms and masked face from there.
• The dagger was borrowed from Necromunda gang Delaque.
• The mace was taken from the new AoS Clanrats.
• I cut the bird skull from Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower Tzaangor, and the frontal eight-pointed star - from a small old box of chaos cultists for WH40k.
• I also used green stuff, milliput, plastic putty from Vallejo, cables, thread and paper.

Poszedłem za ciosem i złożyłem z poniższych części drugiego Brethrena luźno nawiązującego do klasycznych mordheimowych wzorów:

• Tak jak poprzednio, podstawę stanowi model z gangu Cawdor do Necromundy. Podobnie jak w przypadku kolegi numer jeden stamtąd są nogi, tułów, ręce i zamaskowana twarz.
• Sztyletu użyczyl necromundowy gang Delaque.
• Maczugę wziąłem z nowych AoS-owych Clanratów.
• Ptasią czaszkę wyciąłem Tzaangorowi z pudełka Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower, a frontalną ósmoramienną gwiazdkę - z małego starego pudełka kultystów chaosu do WH40k.
• Użyłem też green stuffu, milliputu, plastic putty od Vallejo, kabelków, nitki i papieru.

The Cult of the Possessed - Brethren #1 Kitbash

It's my third #OldschoolNouveau mini for Mordheim Cult of the Possessed after Magister and Possessed. It's loosely inspired by the mini described on Stuff of Legends as "Brethren w/ Mace and Axe 1". I based the model on a Necromunda Cawdor ganger and added some bits:

• Necromunda: Cawdor Gang - legs, torso, hands, face mask
• Warhammer Underworlds: Hexbane Hunters - axe
• Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Skaventide Clanrats - rat skull
• Other materials: green stuff, milliput, plastic putty, cables, thread, a piece of paper

Wróciłem do kitbashowania inspirowanego oryginalnymi modelami Cult of the Possessed. Bazę do pierwszego Brethrena wziałęm z klasycznego w kontekście mordheimowych konwersji pudełka gangu Cawdor do Necromundy. Dorzuciłem parę bitsów (lista poniżej) - i jest:

• Podstawę stanowi pozbawiony futurystycznych elementów model z necromundowego gangu Cawdor. Z tego pudełka pochodzą nogi, tułów, ręce i zamaskowana twarz.
• Topór wziąłem z underworldsowych Witch Hunterów - Hexbane's Hunters.
• Czaszkę szczura wyciąłem z nowych AoS-owych Clanratów.
• Użyłem też green stuffu, milliputu, plastic putty od Vallejo, kabelków, nitki i papieru.

The Cult of the Possessed - Possessed Kitbash

It's my second #oldschoolnouveau mini for Mordheim Cult of the Possessed. (Magister Kitbash was the first one.) It's inspired by the mini described on Stuff of Legends as "Possessed 2". I had an opportunity to paint the original model - check out the following post: Cult of the Possessed - The Possessed if you're interested. This one is a kitbash of three models from Gellerpox Infected box:

• Legs, the back and hands are from a Nightmare Hulk,
• I took the head and the necklace from a Gnasher Screamer,
• I sculpted the belly in Milliput, but put modified teeth of a Sludge-Grub inside.

Poszedłem za ciosem po Panu Magistrze. Jadę dalej z kitbashami inspirowanymi oryginalnymi modelami mordkowych possessedów. Tu punktem wyjścia był wzór opisywany jako Possessed 2: z pazurzastą łapą, macką, rozwichrzonym włosem i kąśliwym brzuszkiem. Do kwietniowego karnawału pasuje, bo:

• brzuszek ulepiłem z kitu zwanego milliputem,
• jest pokitbashowane - model składa się z 3 różnych figurek z pudełka Gellerpox Infected,
• rzecz obficie (acz punktowo) polewałem moim ulubionym ostatnio enamel washem (Dark Brown for Green Vehicles),
• a do tego odwołuje się do figurki sprzed 25 lat - czasów, gdy „bez kitu” i „polewka” mogły być nieco bardziej młodzieżowe niż dziś.

The Cult of the Possessed - Magister Kitbash

I recently learned a neat name for a trend I like wildly: #oldschoolnouveau. It's all about remaking classic models with modern parts. This specific type of kitbashing suits me well. I realized that when I remade the Mordheim Witch Hunters. (See Witch Hunter #1, Witch Hunter #2 & Witch Hunter #3).

When I saw an announcement about the grimdark spellcasters modeling competition, I knew what I'd do. I used some new parts to reimagine the classic Magister from The Cult of the Possessed. (The one described as "Possessed Magister 2" on Stuff of Legends). There he goes! You'll find the list of parts used below.

Poznałem ostatnio zgrabną nazwę nurtu, który szalenie mi się podoba: #oldschoolnouveau. W jego ramach odwzorowuje się klasyczne modele z użyciem dostępnych współcześnie części. Przy okazji oddających hołd mordheimowym wzorom Witch Hunterów przekonałem się, że ten specyficzny typ kitbashowania bardzo mi odpowiada. Kiedy więc zobaczyłem na mordheimowej grupie ogłoszenie o konkursie na grimdarkowych czarodziejów, postanowiłem poskładać „po nowemu” Magistra z The Cult of the Possessed. Dokonawszy wstępnego inwentarza części, których będę chciał użyć, doszedłem do wniosku, że upiekę na tym samym ogniu też karnawałowy wpis. Jak pan Magister ma się do bahiorowej „Masowej produkcji”? Następująco: z masy części masowej produkcji poskładałem unikalnego ludzika :)

Witch Hunters - Witch Hunter #3

Here's the third of my Witch Hunters inspired by original Mordheim miniatures designs, made using contemporary bits. It's a tribute to the Witch Hunter 3, as named in the archival GW Catalog from Stuff of Legends. He's the first Witch Hunters kitbash I made using Wildercorps Hunters WarCry set, but probably not the last one. As for the bits used:

• the body and hands are from the Wildercorps Hunters box,
• the head is from Marauder Horsemen,
• and the sword from Bladegheist Revenants. 

I used some green stuff to extend the height of the legs and make the eye patch and the key. He's painted accordingly to the Grimdark Witch Hunters Painting Tutorial I posted some time ago. It's the last Witch Hunter swordsman I planned, so I should switch to hunters with X-bows, a Priest, Flagellants, or Zealots next. We will see.

Jedna z zaproponowanych przez Koyotha, gospodarza styczniowego Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego, interpretacja tematu to „figurka jak wiele innych, ale w jakimś drobnym szczególe różna”. W ten nurt wpisuje się w mojej ocenie poniższy Witch Hunter na pozór pasujący do kolegów zaprezentowanych na ostatnim ze zdjęć. Tak jak oni jest wzorowany na oryginalnych projektach łowców czarownic do Mordheim, lecz:

• bazuje nie na figurce witch huntera z Cities of Sigmar (u kolegów podstawą byli Jelsen Darrock i Haskel Hexbane), ale członka WarCry'owych Wildercorps Hunters;
• tak jak model, do którego się odwołuje (Witch Hunter 3 z rozpiski mordheimowych Witch Hunterów z archiwalnego katalogu dostępnego na Stuff of Legends), ma opaskę na oko, klucz i sztylet, ale po drugiej stronie osi ciała.

A tak w ogóle - mam już komplet Witch Hunterów z mieczyskami. Trzeba będzie albo zrobić wariant z kuszami, albo wziąć się za Priesta, Flagellantów albo Zealotów. Się zobaczy.

Happy Halloween! Witch Hunter #2

Happy Halloween! What's a more fitting thing to do on the holiday than to explore graveyards, decapitate zombies, and hunt for vampires and witches? Nothing - a witch hunter would say. Here's the next hero for my Mordheim Witch Hunters warband. The model is a kitbash (Cursed City Jelsen Darrock body, flagellant head, zombie head and Bladegheist Revenants sword). It aims to depict one of the classic Mordheim minis: the one referred to as Witch Hunter Captain #1 in a Games Workshop Catalog available on Stuff of Legends.

Trochę z myślą o Halloween, a trochę ze względu na to, że pierwszy model z tej serii (Witch Hunter #1) był dość satysfakcjonujący, poskładałem drugiego łowcę czarownic nawiązującego do klasycznych modeli z  pudełka Witch Hunterów z Mordheim. Jest plan na kolejne ludki bazujące na tym pomyśle. Czas pokaże, kiedy uda się wcielić go w życie.

Witch Hunters - Witch Hunter #1

It's a first character for my Mordheim Witch Hunter warband, in which I will aim to recreate some of the classic models and their vibe with kitbashes of some new stuff. Here's a tribute to the mini which was referred to as Witch Hunter 4 in an old Games Workshop Catalog available on "Stuff of Legends".

Z myślą o zaproponowanym przez koyotha na październik tematem Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego: „Złota jesień” przygotowałem model mający w zamyśle odwzorować sytuację punktowego oświetlenia postaci typowymi dla liści o tej porze roku kolorami. Celem pełniejszego dopasowania pracy do hasła przewodniego starałem się skonwertować figurkę tak, by wyglądała jakby była w stanie zrobić przeciwnikom z d*** jesień średniowiecza. Dajcie znać, jak się udało ;)
