FKB XXXIX: CoC Carnival Master & Co.

"Ulepek". W pierwszym odruchu temat XXXIX Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego chciałem wykorzystać jako pretekst do ukończenia przygotowanego do malowania niemal trzy lata temu Mistrza Karnawału. Uznałem jednak, że dolepione wówczas Putrid Blightkingowi frak i kapelusz to nieco za mało, by sprostać postawionemu w tym miesiącu zadaniu. Pamiętając o nawiązaniu Pepe do postaci Plastusia, dorzuciłem do kompletu modelik nawiązujący sylwetką zarówno do kultowego bohatera, jak i głównego gospodarza podstawki.

At the beginning I planned to use the topic of 39th Mini Blog Carnival - Clay Man - as a motivation to finally paint Carnival Master I prepared nearly three years ago. Then I realized it would be a waste not to sculpt something new. Because this month's theme-giver have reminded us of Plastuś, character from a retro Polish animated movie, I decided to make a little addition, something in-between guy from the cartoon and the Carnival Master himself.

Carnival of Chaos Nurglings

Podobnie, jak w przypadku karnawałowych Siewców Zarazy, również w przypadku Nurglingów  (a więc: deskoskoczka, młotkowego, robaleriny i prestidigitatora) konwersje były silnie inspirowane popkulturą. Ujęcie tematu nie było jednak aż tak szerokie, jak w przypadku Plagusów. Punktem wyjścia był, generalnie rzecz biorąc, gang batmanowego Jokera. Czujny obserwator wypatrzy bardzo dosłowne nawiązania do "Batman: the Killing Joke" oraz do filmowego "Suicide Squad", ale w niektórych przypadkach starałem się odwzorować raczej ogólne wrażenie niż konkretne elementy wyposażenia czy garderoby.

Just like in the Carnival Plaguebearers case, Nurglings (i.e. plankwalker, hammerer, ballerina, illusionist) were strongly inspired by some characters from pop culture. The range wasn't as wide though. The starting point was Joker's gang. An attentive observer should find direct references to "Batman: the Killing Joke" and "Suicide Squad" movie, but there are also some more elusive elements based on a general appearance rather than particular equipment or outfit.

Jeśli wśród czytelników są jacyś miłośnicy Batmana, zapraszam do zgadywania w komentarzach, co skąd brałem :)

Are there any fans of the Batman among the Gangs of Mordheim readers, I encourage them to guess what was taken from where :)

Choć Yorick, Don Pedro i Mr. Jelly w oczywisty sposób nawiązują do konkretnych postaci z popkultury, pierwotnym źródłem inspiracji byli dla nich Siewcy Zarazy z Mordheim.

Yorick, Don Pedro and Mr. Jelly are based on particular characters from pop culture. But the original Carnival of Chaos Plaguebearers were the primary source of inspiration.

Osiągające dziś zawrotne ceny modele doskonale oddają ducha Karnawału Chaosu i samego Mordheim. Obrzydliwi, demoniczni nosiciele zarazy wciśnięci w teatralne fatałaszki są na raz straszni, śmieszni, groteskowi i niepokojący.

The models, sold nowadays for exorbitant prices, are perfect depiction of spirit of Carnival of Chaos and Mordheim itself. Disgusting, demonic disease carriers fit in theatrical attire are scary, farcical, disturbing and grotesque at the same time.

Mój zamysł zakładał wyekstrahowanie najbardziej charakterystycznych atrybutów i obdzielenie nimi "zwykłych" Siewców Zarazy - tak, by zyskali ten złowieszczy urok. Chciałem też, by każdy z nich w jakiś sposób kojarzył się z określonymi typami postaci, które mogliby odgrywać w nurglowym teatrzyku. Jak wyszło, można ocenić poniżej :)

My idea was to extract their most characteristic attributes and present them to 'regular' Plaguebearers in order to give them the creepy appeal. I wanted them to be easily associated with particular kinds of roles each of them can play in Nurgle's theatre. Take a look how it worked out :)

W Stanach Zjednoczonych postrach sieją ostatnio przerażający klauni. Wydało mi się, że to dobry moment, by do Yoricka i Don Pedro dołączył Mr. Jelly, trzeci Siewca Plagi z wesołej trupy Papy Nurgle'a. 

Creepy Clowns have been spreading panic in the USA lately. I thought it was a good moment to let Mr. Jelly join Yorick and Don Pedro, Plaguebearers of Papa Nurgle's Cheerful Troupe.

FKB XXIV: Don Pedro, Plaguebearer

"Złoczyńca", zaproponowany przez sobie-malującego Tomka temat XXIV Figurkowego Karnawału Blogowego zachęcił mnie do skończenia konwersji i pomalowania drugiego Plaguebearera do mojej bandy wyznawców Nurgle'a. Tak, jak i Yorick, Don Pedro nawiązuje do modelu Siewcy Zarazy z Mordheim.

"Villain", the topic of the 24th Mini Blog Carnival chosen by Tomek of sobie-maluje encouraged me to finish converting and paint the second Plaguebearer for warband of Nurgle worshippers. As Yorick, Don Pedro is inspired by a mini of Circus Plague Bearer of Mordheim.

Na fali dyskusji o kolorystyce Plaguebearerów toczonej między koyothem a wellofeternity i ja postanowiłem włączyć się w zarządzony przez nich miesiąc plagusa :) Wróciłem z tej okazji ludka zaczętego jakieś półtora roku temu i wreszcie dorobiłem mu podstawkę. W porównaniu z demonami wspomnianych kolegów wypada zawstydzająco czyściutko, ale co się dziwić? W końcu jest  gwiazdą estrady ;)

Inspired by discussion between koyoth and wellofeternity considering Plaguebearers color schemes, I  decided to join "the Month of Plaguebearer" guys were talking about :) I returned to a mini which I started to work on about a year and a half ago and I finally finished the base. In comparison to koyoth's and wellofetrnity's deamons its shamefully neat, but how could it be different? He's a stage star after all ;)
